The Internet!
Boon or doom, the Internet and all its glories and fallacies are today inseparable from the path we take as a society. Were I to name the most effective "silent" revolution since the invention of money, the Internet would certainly rank first and foremost.

| The Pillow-Talks site: originally created for the wife of my American partner to sell hand-embroidered designer pillows. |
My own contributions have been few but I think I can rightly call myself an expert in most of its primary technologies. Apart from always creating my own sites from scratch, I have been instrumental in designing both templates and finished sites for a number of medium and small companies in the New York and Philadelphia areas in the United States. More recently I was involved in the design & layout of a UK catering site.
Past & present works are, naturally, a mixed bag of goods. A couple of tasks even include my still amateurish attempts at musical compositions - and I hope I can be forgiven for those. For easier access, some of these examples are re-hosted here. Quite a few of these sites & samples require at least the Flash 6 plug-in; and active sites will be called in an iFrame, in order to remain within the portfolio and to avoid opening x-number of windows or tabs. Please note that if you are using IE6 or higher, you may need to enable iFrame usage first.

| Empire Properties: a Flash prototype for an upstate NY real estate company. |
In terms of technologies applied, I am fully proficient in HTML & DHTML, ASP & APS.NET, VB & Java scripting, as well as Flash Action Script 2.0 (with a somewhat lesser knowledge of the 3.0 variant). Development environments such as Adobe's Dreamweaver, Microsoft's Frontpage and the newer Expression Web are all thoroughly mastered tools, and I am familiar with - but certainly not an expert in - Ajax Technology Wrapper.
Web and portal administration, as well as content management, are more closely related to the evolution of my career as a contractor. And, of course, as a technical writer, content provision and editing are second nature.
Recent developments include the transfer of several HTML/PHP sites to ASP, and the automation of the Premier Bites (UK) site to facilitate upkeep of dynamic content. Professionally, I recently switched from Author-it to MadCap Flare as a tool for on-line and off-line help generation.
Another just completed web-based project for a local software house involved developing and writing an on-line help system for a web-based facilities management software
